Every Q7 perspective contains the editor area. An editor is a workbench part that allows a user to edit a Test Case or a Context, or any other supported file types. The Test Case editor is called the Test Editor.
The basic elements of the Test Editor are:
- The Name field – the name of the Test Case
- The Tags field – contains the list of all Work with Tags assigned to the Test Case
- The Add Tag button – lets you select a tag to add from the list of existing tags or create a new one
- The Record button – opens the Control Panel and starts recording.
- The Replay button – runs the Test Case.
Three panes below are designed to simplify your work and build your test case into the integrated testing process.
The Description pane contains all the additional info on the Test Case required to identify it, complement the ECL script, fit the Test Case into the existing Test Plan.
The Description text can be also added in the Control Panel during the Recording operation and later edited in the Test Editor.
The Clear button – clears the Description pane.
The Contexts pane contains the list of the Contexts assigned to the current Test Case. You can add a new Context with the Add button or drag-and-drop it from the Project Explorer, delete the context from the list, open the Context editor by double-clicking on the context name, etc. You can read more on how to work with contexts in the Context chapter.
The *Script*pane contains the ECL script of your Test Case. You can review the script part of the test and manually edit it (available in Q7 Professional Edition).
Several Test Editors can be opened at once in the editor area. They can be arranged and managed in the same manner as in Eclipse Workbench.
